Scalloped Potatoes

As a side dish for any meaty meal, potatoes are almost a must have.  Whether it’s fries, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, or even some chips, you gotta get that starch in.  Here’s one that always turned me away (because of the name) until I tried it a couple nights ago.

I really don’t like seafood, and the “scalloped” part – even though I know there’s nothing scallopy about it, just kept me away.  I’m glad I tried it, and will be having it again.

Ingredients:

Potatoes

Flour

Cheddar

Milk

Salt

Pepper

Grab yourself some potatoes and either slice them thinly (kind of like thick potato chips) or even easier, use the slicing side of a cheese grater.  Put down a layer in a shallow glass or ceramic dish.

Scalloped Potatoes

Sprinkle on a light coat of flour, then a little salt and pepper.

Scalloped Potatoes

Add cheese.

Scalloped Potatoes

Keep layering, finishing with a top coat of cheese.

Add in some milk.

Throw in the oven at 350° for about 45 minutes.

Rating:

These are a great side dish, but I prefer some crispy fries or mashed potatoes.  Still a nice alternative.  8 out of 10

  1. My grandma used to make them like that I loved them when I was younger! I haven’t had scalloped potatoes in years I’ll have to make this
